Our Mission
Datsy’s Girls was founded in 2018 with a mission that focused on donating gently worn clothes to those in need, and increasing awareness about lung cancer and participating in events that helped foster increased research towards finding a cure for the disease. As we continue to grow we have decided to refocus our main purpose and function. While we will always emphasize the awareness and eradication of lung cancer (and all cancers), we would like to highlight the importance and need of a support system for caregivers and grievers. From our mother’s diagnosis to her untimely passing, she had the support of myself, my sister, and our extended family. Based on personal experience and the countless studies, the importance of a support system and its correlation with mental, emotional and physical health is evident. Datsy’s Girls’ ultimate goal is to provide a resource for those who need a shoulder to lean on. Whether it’s by facilitating counseling, making sure a warm meal is prepared, providing a well-needed rest day complete with a massage and facial, offering support for those planning for home hospice care or planning a funeral, everyone deserves to have someone in their corner so that they know they are not alone. As baby boomers get older and an increasing segment of the millennial population becomes caregivers, it is important to have a network to turn to. Juggling jobs and childcare may leave many feeling as though they have nowhere to turn to when it comes to caring for their older family members. We hope to be a trusted resource for these individuals.
While our main focus will be to provide a support network for those in need, we will continue to focus on the needs of those in the Caribbean and Africa as well. We hope you continue to support us in our endeavors!
